My Client Wants to Publish an Ezine

An Ezine is a newsletter that is emailed.

Actually, I have a couple of clients who are talking to me about publishing a newsletter. They are both in medical professions which makes sense for wanting something to give to their patients on a long term basis. Concern about your health stays with you your entire life. A tax attorney or CPA could see the same long term need for her clients especially with tax laws always in flux.  A divorce attorney, on the other hand, wouldn’t have that same need because there’s a beginning and end to a divorce – although some divorces do get dragged out for a very long time.

One of my clients believes that everyone should write and publish an ezine, maybe even more than one because no other medium gives you the  great cost benefit ration for your time, money and efforts.  And I must admit he is convincing. They are a great place to clarify who you are, what you do, when you do it and why you do what you do. They also explain how others can get involved with you.

During the past few months I’ve researched the topic of Ezines and have learned much. I want to share that information with you and will do a basic Ezine 101 in my next few posts. I probably would have at least started a trial ezine for my business but I already started on a large project that leads to a course on email marketing.

There are so many options available now to market what your services and products so that business owners are shunting email marketing. It no longer has the glamor appeal. I’m convinced, however, that email marketing is the basis of all your marketing because it is usually the first personal contact you have with a prospective client. Emails work and shouldn’t be ignored. But that’s later.

Rather than me tell you whether or not you should be producing an ezine, I want to give you the information and make your own decision. It just seemed silly for me to collect all that information about ezines and have it sitting on a folder on my hard drive and parts of the research actually in a file drawer, I want to forward that information to you.  Putting the information about ezines to good use will make me feel good and it may provide a light bulb for your marketing efforts.

I’ve managed to focus the information I’ve collected and arrive at 7 main reasons why you should be producing an ezine. I’ll let you in on those in my next post.

If you are already involved in producing an ezine or newsletter, I love to hear from you. You can type in your good and bad experiences in the comment box.

To your success,

Ruthan Brodsky
